Spring Car Maintenance Tips

Changing your cars batterya

If the battery is more than a few years old, it might be best to get a new one, just in case!

Keeping up with routine car maintenance can be difficult, but it’s a necessity for drivers who want to maximize the lifespan of their vehicle. Proper maintenance can help reduce the overall operating cost of your car as well. Check out these informative spring car maintenance tips from us here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet. Get out on the road and enjoy a spring drive!

  • Battery – A car requires more current to start when it’s cold out. That can put a major strain on a battery, especially if it’s fairly old. Take a few moments to look the battery over for any abnormalities, like bumps or bulges, and clean the connections if possible. If the battery is more than a few years old, it might be best to get a new one, just in case.
  • Wipers – Spring brings warm weather and heavy rains, which is why it’s necessary to have a good pair of windshield wipers. Fortunately, new wiper blades are fairly inexpensive and are easy to install. Simply consult your owner’s manual for exact instructions for your vehicle.
  • Lights – Driving at night without properly functioning headlights will only lead to disaster. Heading out in the rain without headlights won’t end well either. Perform an inspection of your lights to ensure they work properly before you need them!

Spring Car Cleaning

Keeping your car clean in winter is a hassle, what with the ice, snow, and cold weather! Spring is right around the corner, which will be a prime opportunity to clean your car in preparation for warmer weather. We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet have some helpful spring car cleaning advice to help you get off to a productive start this season.

Washing a car

Keep your car clean this spring!

  • Upholstery – Believe it or not, your car’s seats are probably covered in a layer of dirt and dust. Fortunately, cleaning most seats is as easy as wiping them down with a damp cloth. Specialized car leather cleaner can go a long way as well, leaving you with shining seats that are ready for spring.
  • Wheels – Washing your car’s wheels is usually an afterthought, despite all the crud that accumulates over winter. Road salt, dirt, and grime make their way into the crevices, resulting in a rather surprising mess. Remove the hub caps and wash them down then move to the wheels themselves. Tire shine will help make your car look as good as new.
  • Wipers – Spring showers are on the way, which means a set of new wipers is a necessity after a long winter. Wiper blades are cheap to replace and the entire process takes just a few minutes. Check out your owner’s manual for specific instructions for your vehicle.
