Chevrolet Previews SEMA Concepts in Preparation for 2013 SEMA Show

In preparation for the upcoming 2013 SEMA Show, Chevrolet has previewed some of its performance-oriented concepts that will be on display when the show begins November 5th. The SEMA Show is the world’s largest convention of automotive aftermarket parts and accessories. It takes place in Las Vegas from November 5th through November 8th.

Some of the vehicles that Chevrolet recently previewed include the Sonic, all-new Impala, and a personalized version of the Malibu. These concepts feature accessories that allow for personalization, but still maintain the vehicle’s excellent ride characteristics. While some of these accessories are available from Chevrolet dealers, others are still being evaluated for production.

Leading the way for Chevrolet at the 2013 SEMA Show will be two “super” Sonics, which feature enhanced 1.4-liter turbo engines, suspension, exterior and interior accessories, and custom color-and-graphic packages.

Chevrolet Offers Seven Models with 5-Star Overall Vehicle Scores for Safety

Chevrolet offers seven 2014 model year vehicles that have earned a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That’s more than any other automotive brand can claim.

The seven vehicles to earn a 5-Star Overall Score in the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program were the Chevrolet Sonic, Cruze, Volt, Impala, Traverse, Camaro Coupe, and the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. Even more impressive is the fact that the Sonic is the first and only car in the subcompact class to earn a 5-Star Overall Score.

GM research found that safety ranks in the top 10 reasons for purchasing a certain vehicle, so they make sure to put an emphasis on it.

“We design safety and crashworthiness into our vehicles very early in development,” said Gay Kent, GM’s general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness. “We are committed to offering advanced safety technologies on a broad range of models, not just on the most expensive vehicles. All of our vehicles are designed to provide continuous protection for customers before, during and after a crash.”

Advanced-Safety Features Help 2014 Chevrolet Sonic Earn 5-Star Safety Rating

If you are like most people, knowing that a vehicle has earned a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety brings a sense of relief. As a buyer it makes you feel comfortable knowing that you are getting a vehicle that has proved to be safe throughout many rigorous tests. The 2014 Chevrolet Sonic is one such vehicle that adds that sense of relief as it has recently earned a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“Customer safety is our top priority,” said Dongseok Kim, General Motors Korea managing director of safety, regulations and product investigations. “Advanced safety technologies enable customers to feel confident when buying a small car like the Chevy Sonic.”

Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and a rear-vision camera are just some of the advanced-safety features included on the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic.

When it is active, Forward Collision Alert will warn a driver if they are approaching another vehicle too quickly. The rear-vision camera gives a clear view of objects behind the vehicle. Lastly, Lane Departure Warning lets the driver know when the vehicle has veered from the lane they are in.

The 5-star safety rating that the 2014 Sonic has earned is quite the accomplishment, especially since it is the only car in its class to receive such a rating.

Millennials Help Boost Chevrolet Small Car Sales

Chevrolet small car sales continue to increase as its share of buyers under 35 is finding that these cars best meet their priorities. Since 2010, Chevrolet’s small car sales have increased 229 percent and a lot of that can be credited to figuring out how to attract these younger buyers.

The full Chevrolet press release explains that millennials’ purchase priorities include advanced technology, fuel economy, functionality and affordability. These features are best represented in the Chevrolet Cruze, Sonic, and Spark mini car.

“The opportunity this new generation represents is enormous,” said Cristi Landy, Chevrolet marketing director, Small Cars and Electrified Vehicles. “The only way for Chevrolet to deliver the products, technology and services they want most is to really listen to what is important in their lives today and help enable them to reach their full potential.”

Listen they have, as Chevrolet has provided technological features on the Spark and Sonic such as the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system which is powered by your smartphone and includes various apps such as Pandora and Siri in Eyes Free Mode.

It sounds like Chevy has the millennial market all figured out.

The Chevrolet Cruze, Sonic and Volt: Small, but Safe

After receiving Five-Star Overall Vehicle Scores for Safety and named 2012 Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Chevrolet Cruze and the Chevrolet Volt have made Forbes’ List of Ten Safest Small Cars.

Oh, and go ahead and add the Chevrolet Sonic to the list as well.

All three Chevys come standard with OnStar –the first six months for the Cruze and Sonic and the first three years for the Volt.

The OnStar system in all three vehicles includes Automatic Crash Response, a feature with the ability to connect to a specially-trained Emergency Advisor upon impact, automatically request emergency responders to a precise GPS location and, even, transmit important crash data like rollover status or maximum velocity at impact.

The Cruze, Sonic and Volt also feature frontal-side impact airbags as well as front knee air bags for the driver and front passenger.

The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car with a crush resistance roof, a high-strength steel safety cage, Rear Park Assist and ten standard airbags. Now that is compact.

And, the Chevrolet Sonic – it is the first and only subcompact car to feature ten standard airbags.

Known for its efficiency and innovation, the Chevrolet Volt features eight standard airbags, including head and curtain side-impact airbags for outboard front and rear passengers.

There is nothing to fear when it comes to the Cruze, Sonic and Volt.

A New Chevrolet Voice

Last month, Chevrolet announced that it would “Find New Roads” with its new tag line in regard to its advertising campaign.

What we did not know was that those new roads would include a new Chevrolet voice.

That is right.

The talented chords of Tim Allen will no longer ring out over the speakers of your televisions.

His replacement?

John Cusack.

Along with several other talented pipes, the new Chevrolet voice was aired during the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS Sunday evening in its first commercial.

The spot utilized the Chevrolet Corvette, Impala, Sonic, Spark, and Volt to symbolize the various new roads that will be discovered by the automaker.

The new voice closed: “With the best lineup of vehicles ever, introducing the new Chevrolet. Why just go from A to B when imagination can take you everywhere?”

Local Elkhart Indiana dealership, Tom Naquin, looks forward to the new roads that will be found.
