Levi Coffin House

If you want to experience a piece of history, this house in Fountain City is perfect. It was part of the Underground Railroad and the original owner, Levi, was called the President of the Underground Railroad. Think about how many lives this house saved.

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory

Be one with nature at this conservatory in Fort Wayne. There are tons of different gardens with different themes, like the Desert Garden and the Tropical Garden. It smells pretty great, too.

Help Keep Indiana Beautiful this Month

Keep Indiana Beautiful

This April, let’s help keep Indiana beautiful during the annual Trash Bash event. This event starts on April 16th and lasts through May 10th.

Now that spring is here and the temperatures are warming, you have probably appreciated all the greenery and beautiful flowers that are blooming everywhere. But you probably don’t appreciate all the trash along our roads. Nobody likes seeing this, which is why April is recognized as Keep America Beautiful month.

This April, let’s help keep Indiana beautiful during the annual Trash Bash event. This event starts on April 16th and lasts through May 10th. INDOT workers along with Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, and Department of Correction crews will be working hard to clean up Indiana’s highways.

According to INDOT, last year, crews collected 22,542 bags of trash and 8,456 cubic yards of debris along 1,151 miles of highways and roads.

In addition to this organized highway clean-up effort, you can help prevent littering in the first place by setting an example for others, especially your children. You should keep a trash bag or container in your car so you aren’t tempted to throw anything out of the window. If you are part of a local civic group, you could encourage that group to become part of the Adopt-A-Highway program to do your part to keep Indiana and America beautiful.

Consumer Reports Named 2014 Chevrolet Impala Best Sedan

Consumer Reports magazine is one of the most trusted names in the consumer advocacy industry. So, it tends to be that when they speak, the people listen. Recently, the group announced that the 2014 Chevrolet Impala received the company’s top testing score and is the best sedan in the United States.

This is the first time in two decades that an American sedan has won this distinction from Consumer Reports. The magazine bases its scores on, among others, ride quality, handling and quality of materials. The Impala received a score of 95 out of a possible 100 points, giving it an “Excellent” rating from the magazine. It even outscored luxury competitors, such as the Lexus LS460 and the Audi A6.

Tom Mutchler of Consumer Reports said, “It rides like a luxury sedan, cushy and yet controlled. At the same time, acceleration is quick and handling and it is surprisingly agile for such a large sedan.”

The 2014 Impala has been completely redesigned. It has an affordable starting price around $27,000.

Join with us in congratulating General Motors and Chevrolet on this achievement. Stop on by Tom Naquin of Elkhart Indiana and test a 2014 Chevrolet Impala for yourself.

All-Exterior LED Lighting for the Cadillac ELR

Efficiency seems to be what every automobile manufacturer is after these days, and Cadillac is no different.

Energy can be conserved some way in almost every element of a vehicle, all the way down to its lights.

That is why the latest in energy reduction has been light-emitting diodes, or LED lights.

This particular lighting technology features a longer life span and higher energy efficiency.

As if the extended range luxury coupe wasn’t efficient enough, the all-new Cadillac ELR will also be the first electric vehicle to feature all-exterior LED lighting.

That is right – all of the major exterior lighting groups of the Cadillac ELR will be LED.

As on the Converj, the concept from which the ELR is based, and true to the classic Cadillac style, the ELR will feature the signature vertical tail lights.

A sleek and dramatic appearance is achieved as the main projectors extend from the front fascia up into the fenders.

And, the front LED lights even double as daytime running lights.

“LED lights last much longer and use less energy than traditional halogen bulbs used in most vehicles,” said Exterior Lead Designer Martin Davis. “Beyond the beautiful design interpretation, using LED lights fits with the ELR’s environmentally friendly character.”

Be sure to visit Tom Naquin of Elkhart Indiana this winter to welcome the energy-efficient Cadillac ELR to the greater South Bend area.

Vsport Twin Turbo V6 Engine Option Extends to 2014 Cadillac XTS

If you haven’t already heard, Cadillac has brought something new – something powerful – to the luxury car game.

It is called the Vsport Twin Turbo V6 engine option.

The powertrain delivers 410-horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque, making it one of the most power-dense six-cylinder engines among luxury cars.

We knew that the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS luxury performance sedan would be available in the Vsport trim.

Now the option has been extended to the all-new 2014 Cadillac XTS luxury sedan.

“The addition of the new Cadillac Twin Turbo expands and elevates the XTS luxury sedan,” said Global Cadillac Vice President Bob Ferguson. “This is a compelling enhancement to what is already one of the most technically advanced sedans in our history.”

Even standard with the 3.6-liter V6 engine that churns out 305-horsepower, the XTS features some of the best-performing technical elements like Magnetic Ride Control, Intelligent Brake Assist and CUE – all packed inside the regular car line in a single model.

Although available in the Luxury, Premium and Platinum Collections, the XTS Vsport will only be offered in the latter two trims.

Below are a few details on the unique Twin Turbo V6 engine.

  • All-new cylinder block casting
  • All-new direct injection fuel system
  • High-tumble intake port designed cylinder heads that enhance the motion of air charge for more efficient burn when mixed with direct-injected fuel and ignited in combustion chamber
  • Machined, domed aluminum pistons with top steel ring carrier for greater strength
  • Patented, integrated charge air cooler system with low-volume air ducts
  • Tuned air inlet and outlet resonators and aluminum cam covers that contribute to quietness and smoothness
  • Two turbochargers producing more than 12 pounds of boost
  • Vacuum-actuated wastegates with electronic control valves

Tom Naquin of Elkhart Indiana is excited for the Twin Turbo V6 engine to soon arrive in the greater South Bend area.

The Origin of Luxuriousness in the 2013 Cadillac XTS

One of the most attractive elements of the 2013 Cadillac XTS is its interior.

The chrome accents in the luxury sedan create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Cadillac often looks to other luxury industries like fashion and furniture for popular consumer trends in order to imitate the luxurious world in which they live every day – just on a larger scale.

So, where did Cadillac designers find the inspiration for these chrome finishes in its award-winning and most luxurious car?

Luxury watches, and their creative use of metal finishes and styling cues.

“The luxury watch industry plays with many metal finishes in its designs,” said Lead Creative Designer Marie-Camille LeCoq. “They play with matte, satin, bright chrome and aluminum in beautiful ways, so it was natural to draw influence in a way that extends into the Cadillac XTS the look and feel of the objects consumers interact with in their everyday lives.”

Large elements like the door sills and instrument panel are finished in satin chrome accents in order to contrast with the wood and leather finishes. Meanwhile, the smaller elements like air vents are finished with polished chrome.

Want even more luxury?

Upgrade to the XTS Platinum with full Opus leather seat treatments and genuine Sapele wood details.
