2014 Chevy Impala Used as Recording Studio for Detroit-based Band

Gone is the amateur karaoke hour normally reserved for red lights and traffic jams. With a brand new, noise-cancelling cabin, the 2014 Chevy Impala has changed the face of singing in the car.  The Gentlemen Mutineers, a Detroit-based blues-rock band, recently used the new 2014 Chevy Impala as a recording studio for their well-known anthem “Detroit Throttle,” opening new possibilities for car-bound aspiring singers.

All outside noise was cancelled as Frankie Turner, lead singer for the band, crooned into a microphone while Grammy-award winning recording engineer, Mark Pastoria, recorded the sound on a laptop.

“I am amazed at how quiet the Impala is,” Pastora said. “It was important that we wouldn’t hear background noise while recording and with all that was going on outside the car, I am astounding that we couldn’t hear any of it. The Impala rocks.”

The recording studio quality silence might come as a surprise to most customers, but not to the engineers who created the silent interior. In order to minimize outside noise, the Impala is equipped with a windshield and front door glass that are acoustically laminated, a trunk and floor pan covered with liquid-applied sound deadener and triple-sealed doors, among other sound preventing substances. With this variety of sound buffering and absorbing materials, it’s hard to believe that you can even hear the passengers sitting next to you.
