With the weather getting warmer and spring slowly approaching, the time is coming to get out and explore your state. So why don’t you hop in the car and check out these awesome Indiana road trips?

Amish Acres

Amish Acres in Nappanee, Indiana is a great getaway. If you want to take a time out from your busy life, you can find some solitude here with 80 acres of farms. For extra fun, turn off your technology for the visit and live the Amish way.

Levi Coffin House

If you want to experience a piece of history, this house in Fountain City is perfect. It was part of the Underground Railroad and the original owner, Levi, was called the President of the Underground Railroad. Think about how many lives this house saved.

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory

Be one with nature at this conservatory in Fort Wayne. There are tons of different gardens with different themes, like the Desert Garden and the Tropical Garden. It smells pretty great, too.

Hall of Heroes Museum

This museum in Elkhart is great for the whole family, especially the kids. It’s the only Super Hero and Comic Book Museum in the world, so it’s a special road trip to take. You’ll find two stories of comic book history here.

All-New Camaro ZL1

Camaro ZL1

Even More Speed In The Camaro

The all-new Camaro is the fastest one yet! The Camaro ZL1 will light the track on fire (not literally) at the next road races.

The ZL1 has plenty of power, starting with its 10-speed automatic transmission; it makes the race smoother than ever. The ZL1 was tested at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg GmBH proving ground. A proving ground is exactly what it sounds like – it makes the car prove what it can do. The ZL1 certainly proved its power by peeling around the track at 202.3 mph in one direction and 193.3 mph in the other. That brings the Camaro ZL1’s official top speed to a jaw-dropping 198 mph.

“The ZL1 was developed with high-speed performance in mind, incorporating a balanced aerodynamic package that reduces lift without significantly affecting drag,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.

The Camaro ZL1 is sure to prove its innovation on the racetrack. The coupe shoots from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds and can even brake from 60 to 0 in 107 feet. That’s pretty impressive! Its engine delivers an unbeatable 650 horsepower and has top technology like Magnetic Ride Control and electronic limited-slip differential as well.

Keep your eyes peeled for the lightning-fast Camaro ZL1… if you blink you might miss it! Come see a Chevrolet Camaro for yourself at Tom Naquin in Elkhart, IN today!

Chevrolet Redline Special Editions lined up next to each other

Chevrolet’s Redline Special-Edition Trims

The Saturn Redline edition models were high-performance versions of popular vehicles designed to appeal to the speed demon in us all. While Saturn is long gone, Chevrolet is reviving the Redline name in a big way. Originally debuted at the 2015 SEMA Show, Chevrolet’s Redline special-edition trims are returning to the market to feed the demon.

The new Chevrolet Redline Special-Editions

The Redline package will re-enter production and be available on a total of nine vehicles by the end of 2017. The package will include black wheels with red hashes, black nameplates with a red outline, and black grilles. Specific vehicles will see their own unique styling touches as well.

The Chevrolet Camaro Redline, for example, will feature the red hash marks above the wheels as a nod to Chevrolet’s history in motorsports. Both trucks, the Colorado and Silverado 1500, will feature red tow hooks.

Other vehicles that will see the available Redline package include the Malibu, Trax, Traverse Premier, Equinox, and Cruze hatchback and sedan. The first model to hit the market will be the Silverado. Potential consumers can inquire about ordering a Silverado Redline of their own by contacting a certified dealership.

We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet are excited to see the Redline special edition models roll out throughout the year!

Still On Top: 2016 Chevrolet Concept Models

2016 Chevrolet Concept Models

Chevrolet’s design game is strong, as evidenced by 2016 Chevrolet concept models that recently debuted at the SEMA Show.

Chevrolet’s design game is strong, as evidenced by 2016 Chevrolet concept models that recently debuted at the SEMA Show…

One of those concepts was Chevrolet Chevelle Slammer Concept, which harkens back to the days when muscle cars reigned supreme, with a slick and classic exterior design that pays homage to the iconic ‘69 Chevelle. The Slammer sits low and features a long hood and classic grille.

But that’s all to hint at what’s under the hood, an aggressive and all-new LT376/535 crate engine, which pumps out 535 horsepower. While we won’t likely see this concept go to production, we can all agree with Chevy that is a “perfect platform to launch the new direct-injected LT376/535 crate engine.”

Chevy also proved its superior design abilities hold true in America’s favorite segment, the crossover. The Chevrolet Trax Activ Concept was made for those living an “adventurous lifestyle.”

Not only is this crossover all-wheel drive, engineers both widened and lifted the suspension, making it easier to get to those hard-to-reach camping spots. The Thule roof rack helps you carry everything you could ever need into the backcountry and the Satin Sandstorm exterior color means you’ll look great as you disappear into the hinterlands. No one questioned the hardiness of the Chevy Trax before, but the Trax Activ Concept proves this model’s ruggedness beyond question.

It’s always fun to see the designers and engineers of Chevrolet “playing jazz” a bit, flexing their creative muscles and letting the world see just what kind of brilliance they are capable of.

New Silverado HD Sets Record for World’s Largest Flag Pulled by Moving Vehicle

Largest Flag

Chevrolet showed a bit of its patriotism by setting a new Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle.

Nothing stirs up feelings of patriotism quite like a giant flag. Just think about some of the sporting events you’ve attended. As soon as they pull out that big flag, everyone cheers, no matter which team you’re rooting for.

Chevrolet showed a bit of its patriotism by setting a new Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle. They accomplished this with the 2017 Silverado HD powered by a new Duramax 6.6-liter V8 turbo-diesel engine.

With 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque, the Silverado HD captured this new record with ease at Texas Motor Speedway.

Chevrolet used a flag that measured nearly 40 by 80 with an area of 3,186 square feet. The flag was attached to the back of the Silverado HD using unique 40-foot riggings. Because of the design, they could not do a driving roll-out of the flag. Instead, a team of 20 people helped launch and catch the flag, making sure it did not touch the ground.

Both this record-setting flag and a giant State of Texas flag were flown at the Speedway and will be on display at the 2016 State Fair of Texas.

Lets us know what you think about this record-setting Chevy in the comments section below!

Getting Your Car Ready for Fall

Car Ready for Fall

Now that we’ve hit late September it’s time to start getting your car ready for fall, so be sure to follow these useful tips.

Even though cold weather hasn’t even made an appearance yet, now that we’ve hit late September it’s time to start talking about fall car maintenance. There are plenty of easy things you can do to get your car ready for fall, so follow these tips.

Fall is a time for replacing things so you don’t have to do it in the winter. Basically, fall car maintenance is pre-winter maintenance. Replace your windshield wipers, for instance, because you’ll want them in the best shape possible for all the heavy snow and ice they’ll be dealing with this winter.

You should also get an oil change if it’s been more than a couple of months since your last one. Going into winter with fresh oil is a good idea, since the oil is an important part of keeping your engine lubricated and not freezing in the cold.

Check your brakes and tires. Tire pressure will start to drop the colder it gets, so check it every couple of weeks and add air as needed. Brakes, too, are especially important in winter, since it’s harder to stop on slick roads, so have your brake pads replaced if you notice they’re very thin. If you notice any kind of strange noises or behavior from your car, get it inspected now.

It’s been a while since you’ve used the heater, so make sure the heater and defrost still work. Check the fluids, have the battery tested, and check under the hood for cracks or leaks. You don’t want to go into winter with parts that are leaking fluids. Obviously, proper fluid levels are important year-round, but never more so than in freezing cold winters.

Chevy Low Cab Forward Trucks

Chevrolet has your back when it comes to business. And now, dealers are launching into the medium duty market by bringing in Chevy Low Cab Forward trucks.

It’s not just about cars! Chevrolet has your back when it comes to business. And now, dealers are launching into the medium duty market by bringing in Chevy Low Cab Forward trucks.

Chevy is all about trucks, and not just pickups! The Low Cab Forward series makes it easier for businesses to find what they want at a Chevy dealer.

So, why the Low Cab Forward? It’s smart and it’s all about the customer. In this cab, you’ll get a maneuverable design that gives you top visibility on the road and a tighter turning radius.

“We’re in the business of helping our commercial customers succeed, and a big part of that is providing the vehicle choices they need to efficiently operate their businesses,” said Ed Pepper, US vice president of General Motors Fleet.

The new Low Cab Forward trucks are ideal for drivers who need top payload and towing capabilities while also requiring good maneuverability.

You can get the new truck in regular cab or crew cab with three different engine options. Keep your eyes peeled for this strong but agile truck!

Driving Pet Peeves that Everyone Should Stop

Driving Pet Peeves

There are some things that you just hate to deal with on the road. Here are some of our biggest driving pet peeves, can you relate?

There are some things that you just hate to deal with on the road. Here are some of our biggest driving pet peeves, can you relate?

Phone Time – Seriously, what’s worse than being stuck behind someone slow and then seeing them texting? There’s a reason that hands-free technology exists!

Tailgating – Um, sir/ma’am, I’m going about ten over the speed limit already. Get off my bumper!

No Turn Signals – I mean, come on, it’s literally right by your hand! You don’t even need to take your hand off the steering wheel to activate it!

Parking in Multiple Spaces – Well, I could have parked there, but since you decided your car deserved two spaces, I guess I can’t…

Keeping on High Beams – Yes, it’s hard to see sometimes, but it’s even harder to see when your brights are blaring in my eyes! Turn them off when you’re approaching another car, please!

Slow Drivers in the Passing Lane – Excuse me, but there’s a reason it’s called the passing lane.

Remember, never let your anger take hold of you when these things happen! Just take a deep breath and say, “I will be the bigger person.”

What’s your biggest driving pet peeve? Let us know in the comment section below.

The Importance of Sunglasses: More Than Just Stylish

Importance of Sunglasses

Though most of us are aware of the need to wear sunscreen, we don’t always seem to consider the importance of sunglasses.

Sunglasses are more than just a fashionable accessory; they also offer vital protection from both sun damage and harmful glare, which can make it difficult to see the road ahead of you when driving.

Though most of us are aware of the need for sunscreen, we don’t always consider the importance of sunglasses. The sensitive skin around our eyes is particularly vulnerable to sun damage, which could lead to skin cancer, cataracts, and glaucoma.

Additionally, sunglasses can truly make it easier – and safer – to drive. The reflection of the sun on snow and sand can decrease your visibility, unless you are wearing sunglasses, and they can also act as a visible barrier from wind, dust, and dirt particles, which could get into your eyes while driving.

To be safe – be sure to purchase a pair of sunglasses that offers both 100% UVA and UVB protection and also fit comfortably on your face.

The Upcoming 2017 Chevrolet SS Engine Could Produce 600 Horsepower

2017 Chevrolet SS Engine

It’s possible that the 2017 Chevrolet SS engine could be able to produce up to 600 horsepower, making it an attractive option for thrill-seekers.

The popular Chevrolet SS sedan was already quite powerful – fueled by a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine, capable of up to 415 horsepower – but now, rumor says that the Chevrolet SS will get even stronger in 2017.

According to GM Authority, the 2017 model will be the last version of the Chevrolet SS, but it will come with a turbocharged engine, making the sport sedan that much more fun to drive. The engine in question is said to be the same one that previously fueled the Corvette Z06 and the Cadillac CTS-V.

If this is true, then the 2017 Chevrolet SS engine should be able to produce up to 600 horsepower, making it an attractive option for thrill-seekers and Chevy enthusiasts alike.
