At this year’s midsummer classic in Cincinnati, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim centerfielder Mike Trout became the first MLB player to win back-to-back All-Star Game MVP Awards. As such, he’s also the first baseball player to win back-to-back free Chevy vehicles for being named MVP. Some guys have all the luck, huh?
Last year, when given the choice, Trout enthusiastically chose a new Corvette over a new Silverado. At this year’s All-Star Game, when asked to decide between the all-new sixth-gen 2016 Camaro and a limited edition Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition, Trout went with the pickup truck. Perhaps he figures he has enough sports cars now, and wants something for hauling all of his trophies around—or maybe he just loves the cool all-black paint job.
“Mike’s on-field performance was All-Star caliber and worthy of one of Chevrolet’s All-Stars,” said Chevrolet US vice president Brian Sweeney. “Chevrolet also encourages future All-Stars through our more than 1,500 dealers who support Chevy Youth Baseball.”
In the past ten years, the Chevy Youth Baseball program has raised over $18 million to support local youth teams, involving over 5.2 million kids across America. No doubt, millions of those kids dream of growing up to be like Mike Trout—elite, idolized, wealthy, and the proud recipient of a free Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition pickup truck.
