Many of us have to commute to and from work on a daily basis which can be a stressful event at times. If you have to commute to work every day, then chances are so do hundreds of other people at the same time. This can lead to traffic jams and lots of stopping and starting. This is where the 2014 Chevrolet Impala attempts to relieve any potential stress you may be caused with its full-speed-range adaptive cruise control.
The 2014 Impala is the first Chevrolet vehicle to offer this technology, which limits the task of braking and accelerating via a cruise control system that allows the driver to maintain a driver-selected following gap with the vehicle in front of them.
The full-speed-range adaptive cruise control system uses forward-looking radar, giving the driver a choice of one of three gaps to follow the vehicle ahead at. The system can accelerate and brake automatically to maintain the selected gap. It even works under stop-and-go traffic conditions.
“Results indicated that brake-apply rates were 25 times lower under freeway conditions relative to manual driving,” said James Sayers (in this press release), a research scientist in the institute’s Human Factors Group. “These results suggest that Adaptive Cruise Control can substantially reduce the workload and stress associated with the everyday task of car following.”
Reduce your levels of unwanted stress by getting behind the wheel of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Tom Naquin Chevrolet would be more than happy to help you do so!
Gone is the amateur karaoke hour normally reserved for red lights and traffic jams. With a brand new, noise-cancelling cabin, the 2014 Chevy Impala has changed the face of singing in the car. The Gentlemen Mutineers, a Detroit-based blues-rock band, recently used the new 2014 Chevy Impala as a recording studio for their well-known anthem “Detroit Throttle,” opening new possibilities for car-bound aspiring singers.
All outside noise was cancelled as Frankie Turner, lead singer for the band, crooned into a microphone while Grammy-award winning recording engineer, Mark Pastoria, recorded the sound on a laptop.
“I am amazed at how quiet the Impala is,” Pastora said. “It was important that we wouldn’t hear background noise while recording and with all that was going on outside the car, I am astounding that we couldn’t hear any of it. The Impala rocks.”
The recording studio quality silence might come as a surprise to most customers, but not to the engineers who created the silent interior. In order to minimize outside noise, the Impala is equipped with a windshield and front door glass that are acoustically laminated, a trunk and floor pan covered with liquid-applied sound deadener and triple-sealed doors, among other sound preventing substances. With this variety of sound buffering and absorbing materials, it’s hard to believe that you can even hear the passengers sitting next to you.
Come out and check the recording studio quality cabin of the all-new 2014 Chevy Impala at Tom Naquin today! Who knows—maybe you’ll get your big break!
Consumer Reports magazine is one of the most trusted names in the consumer advocacy industry. So, it tends to be that when they speak, the people listen. Recently, the group announced that the 2014 Chevrolet Impala received the company’s top testing score and is the best sedan in the United States.
This is the first time in two decades that an American sedan has won this distinction from Consumer Reports. The magazine bases its scores on, among others, ride quality, handling and quality of materials. The Impala received a score of 95 out of a possible 100 points, giving it an “Excellent” rating from the magazine. It even outscored luxury competitors, such as the Lexus LS460 and the Audi A6.
Tom Mutchler of Consumer Reports said, “It rides like a luxury sedan, cushy and yet controlled. At the same time, acceleration is quick and handling and it is surprisingly agile for such a large sedan.”
The 2014 Impala has been completely redesigned. It has an affordable starting price around $27,000.
