What happens when the 2015 Silverado 2500HD does the twist? Chevrolet hired third-party research company AMCI to find out. While they were at it, AMCI also tested the 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty to compare. Ooh, this frame twist test just got a whole lot more interesting, didn’t it?
We won’t keep you in suspense: The Chevy Silverado was able to better handle the twisting than Ford’s pickup.
For testing (which you can view online), both trucks were driven onto uneven ramps to simulate the jagged terrains on which the pickups are often driven. When the amount of displacement between the truck cabin and bed was measured, the Chevy measured at just 0.26 inches while the Ford experienced a greater 0.94 inches. The Ford was so twisted, the tailgate couldn’t be lowered. Sounds like the beginning of a long day at work to us here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet.
“The use of high-strength steel in the Silverado HD is what allows the Silverado to handle even the toughest of jobs,” said Jeff Luke, GM executive chief engineer for full-size trucks. “Paired with a fully boxed frame, high-strength steel is what makes the Silverado come from the family of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road.”
There you have it, folks. The proof is in the twisting. Which pickup would you choose?
A brand new adaption of the famous Chevrolet Camaro has debuted on the internet, and muscle car fans definitely have something to be excited about! The experts from Top Speed will have a hand in designing the new version of the Camaro. The Top Speed Camaro will feature a fresh, innovative design with a newly-shaped front end, stronger exterior styling, and bigger and more powerful wheels.
INAUTONEWS says that “The new generation of the Chevrolet Camaro will be riding on the Alpha platform, the same one used on the Cadillac CTS, and it should lose some significant weight from its body.” A lighter vehicle means more efficiency and the ability to reach higher speeds. You’ll also find plenty of new and exciting stuff under the hood of the car. Customers will have different options to choose from, including a new turbocharged gasoline engine that will be able to achieve 272 horsepower. This engine will be in direct competition with the EcoBoost engine that fuels the Ford Mustang.
The Top Speed Camaro is expected to be introduced at some point in 2015. Plan to get the new Camaro or one of its previous models from us at Tom Naquin Chevrolet!
