Callaway Corvette Speeds into Production

A few months ago, the tuning company Callaway announced its newest tuned Corvette. At the time, it was estimated that the Corvette would have about 620 horsepower and at least 600 lb-ft of torque. The actual ratings have been released and it turns out that the sports car is slightly more powerful than originally thought.

The actual ratings for the new supercharged sports car come in at 627 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. What’s really impressive about this 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine is that it adds 167 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque over the standard car.

Now that the numbers for the Callaway Corvette are official, the car is in production, and it is already being shipped to waiting customers. To own one of these speedy Corvettes, it will cost you $22,995, plus the cost of the donor car.

Three Chevys Receive High Honors in Initial Quality Awards

Three seems to be Chevrolet’s lucky number with three of the American carmaker’s vehicles taking the lead in their respective segments, according to the 2014 J.D. Power Initial Quality Awards. The Malibu ranked the highest in the Midsize Car, Suburban in the Large SUV segment, and the Silverado HD in Large Heavy Duty Pickup.

Along with these three vehicles taking the top place in their segments, three other vehicles were ranked in the top three of their respective segments, with the Camaro placing in Midsize Sporty, the Equinox in Compact SUV, and Tahoe in Large SUV.

“Our primary focus at Chevrolet is on the customer, and building quality products is top priority for keeping that focus,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “Taking high honors in quality studies like this is great reinforcement to show we are doing just that.”

J.D. Power bases the Initial Quality Survey on responses from more than 86,000 purchasers and lessees after 90 days of new vehicle ownership. It is the second year for the study’s new format, providing manufacturers with information needed to improve customer satisfaction.
