Rob Dyrdek Soars to World Record

Former professional skateboarder and star of MTV’s “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” Rob Dyrdek, is no stranger to pulling off stunts in the Chevrolet Sonic. In 2011, he and Chevrolet teamed up to perform the first-ever successful 360-degree kick-flip off a ramp in a Sonic. The team is back at it again, this time breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record.

Dyrdek set the record for the Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car in history, with a total distance traveled of 89 feet 3¼ inches. You can see the historic feat in the following video.

Throughout his career, Dyrdek owns, or has broken, more than 20 records, many of those being skateboarding related. To set this world record, Dyrdek could think of no better vehicle to use than the Chevy Sonic.

“The Sonic is a great car for firsts,” said Dyrdek, in a press release. “I have always been a Chevy guy, so when we decided we wanted to set a Guinness World Record for the finale of “Fantasy Factory,” using the Sonic again just made sense.”

We at Tom Naquin Chevrolet don’t advise jumping it off a ramp, but you can still visit us to test drive the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic.

Corvettes Damaged by Sinkhole to be Restored by Chevrolet

Corvettes Damaged by Sinkhole to be Restored by Chevrolet

Corvettes Damaged by Sinkhole to be Restored by ChevroletWhen a sinkhole opened underneath the National Corvette Museum, not only was the building damaged, but eight Corvettes as well. Thankfully, no one was in the building when it happened.

Two of the Corvettes that were damaged by the sinkhole were the one millionth and 1.5 millionth Corvettes ever produced. Even though the National Corvette Museum is independently owned and supported by charitable donations, Chevrolet has offered its help in restoring the iconic vehicles.

“The vehicles at the National Corvette Museum are some of the most significant in automotive history,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president of General Motors Global Product Development, in a press release. “There can only be one 1-millionth Corvette ever built. We want to ensure as many of the damaged cars are restored as possible so fans from around the world can enjoy them when the Museum reopens.”

We may not have the iconic Corvettes that they do at the National Corvette Museum, but Tom Naquin Chevrolet still has plenty of Corvettes for you to choose from.

Car-Brand Perception Survey

Chevrolet Places Fourth in Car-Brand Perception Survey

Car-Brand Perception SurveyVehicle quality, safety, performance, value, fuel economy, design/style, and technology/innovation are the seven important buying factors that make up the Consumer Reports brand perception scores. To get these brand perception scores, Consumer Reports must first conduct its Car-Brand Perception Survey.

Thanks to being the top brand when it comes to the performance buying factor, Chevrolet was able to take fourth place overall in terms of brand perception, trailing Toyota, Ford and Honda.

The important thing to take away from these rankings is the fact that they are based on perceptions and not the actual quality of the brand’s vehicles.

“The key word is ‘perception’. Consumers are influenced by word of mouth, marketing, and hands-on experience. Often, perception can be a trailing indicator, reflecting years of good or bad performance in a category, and it can also be influenced by headlines in the media,” said Jeff Bartlett, Consumer Reports deputy automotive editor.
