Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Silverado Earn Prestigious AwardsThe winners of the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards have recently been announced at the North American International Auto Show. We are excited to announce that Chevrolet made the clean sweep, with the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Silverado each earning the award for their respective category.

With the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray earning North American Car of the Year and the Chevrolet Silverado earning North American Truck of the Year, this was the first time that the Chevrolet brand has ever won both awards in the same year.

Chevrolet Silverado Named Pickup Truck of the Year

Pickup Truck of the YearAdd another award to the list of accolades earned by the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Not only did the Silverado recently earn the North American Truck/Utility of the Year award, but it was also recently named the Pickup Truck of the Year by Four Wheeler Magazine.

In a series of on- and off-road tests performed by the magazine, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was able to beat out the 2014 Toyota Tundra and the 2014 Ram 2500 for the award. The Silverado was able to come out on top thanks in part to its smooth ride and “top notch” fit-and-finish. This would have been the third straight year that Ram won had it not been for the Silverado.

“Four Wheeler really puts pickups to the test, on road and off, and the results showcase the capability and refinement that our team built into the new Silverado,” said Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer, in a press release.

Pricing Announced for Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

Chevrolet Camaro Z/28It might seem surprising that a car with a starting price of $75,000 has only one speaker and no air conditioning, but the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is designed for speed and anything that adds weight—speakers, HID headlights, air conditioning, rear-seat pass-through—would slow it down.

If you want to add some creature comforts to your Z/28, you can add the single available option—air  conditioning and a six-speaker stereo system—for $1,150.

“The Camaro Z/28 is an uncompromising performer that’s bred for the track – and every one of its unique components supports the goal of faster lap times,” said Mark Reuss, president, General Motors North America, in a statement.

The Z/28 is fast—really fast. It posted a lap time of 7:37.47 at Nurburgring—the definitive track for fast cars. This is faster than the Porsche 911 Carrera S, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Mercedes SLS AMG, and Lamborghini Murcielago.

Making it so fast is its 7.0-liter V8 engine that gives it 505 horsepower. Other go-fast bits include a Torsen limited-slip differential, lightweight 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, race-inspired spool-valve dampers, Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, and carbon ceramic disc brakes.

You can order your 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 now; deliveries are expected to begin in early spring. Call us at Tom Naquin Chevrolet to place your order today.

2014 Chevrolet Spark – A Top Safety Pick

Top Safety PickIn only its first year of eligibility, the 2014 Chevrolet Spark has been named a 2014 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It is the only vehicle in the IIHS minicar segment to earn the rating in 2014 model year testing.

To earn the designation of a 2014 Top Safety Pick, the Spark received the highest possible “good” scores in the IIHS’s moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints tests. In the IIHS’s new small overlap test, the Spark earned a score of “acceptable.”

“Spark’s impressive performance in IIHS’s most stringent test yet demonstrates the intensive efforts of our global safety team to deliver big safety in a small package,” said Gay Kent, General Motors general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness, in a press release. “Spark’s safety structure makes extensive use of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels and its robust passenger protection package includes 10 standard air bags.”
