Welcome Home, Chevrolet Camaro!

There’s no place like home.

Dorothy said it best as she closed her eyes and clicked her Ruby Red slippers together three times.

Two Ruby Red slippers may not be necessary for this return, but a set of four painted aluminum wheels may be.

After twenty years abroad, the Chevrolet Camaro is coming back to America.

The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro Coupe, to be launched in 2016, will be manufactured at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing Michigan.

The move will assist in efforts to consolidate its rear-wheel drive assembly, which will be based upon a similar platform as the Cadillac ATS and the Cadillac CTS that are also manufactured at this plant.

After a seven-year discontinuation, production of the Chevrolet Camaro was re-launched at Oshawa Assembly in Ontario Canada in 2009.

Since then, the plant has built 100,000 Camaros, accounting for twenty-five percent of plant production.

The current-generation Chevrolet Camaro will continue to be manufactured at Oshawa Assembly until its life-cycle fades away.

Chevrolet Supplies a Different Kind of Wheels

The Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans was founded in 2004 with a mission to create experiences of accomplishment and the development of confidence through the participation in and completion of marathons across the nation for injured United States military members and veterans.

Chevrolet has provided the resources and mentors for a group of Michigan Technological University mechanical engineering students to produce ten new-and-improved hand cycles for The Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.

After spending time with wounded veterans and gaining an understanding of the nature of the sport, the Huskies Helping Heroes got to work on the senior project.

The students utilized stronger steel wheels to make the hand cycles more durable. The restraints were tweaked to provide more comfort but still maximize safety. And, the lighter and foldable material will make for much easier transportation.

Retired Marine Corporal Joseph Woodke showed off the first prototype at the Army-Navy game this weekend.

Make a pledge for an individual donation, a corporate sponsorship, or the purchase of an entire hand cycle for a member of the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.
