The 2014 Chevrolet Impala Gets Better and Better with Age

What if we could actually look forward to aging?

Wouldn’t it be great if we only got more stylish and more athletic in our fifties?

Well, that is basically the life of the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala that will grace the lots of local dealerships across the nation in the spring of 2013.

As an iconic and legendary Chevrolet leader for over 50 years, this 10th generation full-size sedan has been completely reinvented to exhibit some of the traits most coveted by modern vehicles—traits like head-turning, refined, and stunning.

With three available engine choices—a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 303-horsepower and goes from zero to 60 in 6.8 seconds, while offering 28 miles per gallon on the highway; a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivering 195-horsepower and 31 miles per gallon on the highway; or a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine equipped with E-Assist that delivers 183-horsepower and 35 miles per gallon on the highway—the 2014 Chevrolet Impala is improved in both power and efficiency.

And, it looks just as good as it performs.

Sitting pretty on 20-inch wheels, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala flaunts rich chrome and wood accents, ambient lighting, and leather-appointed seating to create an atmosphere of pure luxury and extreme comfort.

With a futuristic feel, the upscale and driver-focused interior offers innovative technology and connectivity through the Chevrolet MyLink in-car infotainment system that includes Bluetooth, Natural Voice Recognition, and an eight-inch color touch-screen.

In addition, the 10th generation offers safety features like Forward Collision Alert, Full-Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Park Assist with Rearview Camera, and Side Blind Zone Alert with Cross-Traffic Radar Alert.

Major VOLTage with Chevrolet Volt

The advanced lithium-ion battery that powers the Chevrolet Volt can go a pretty long way—even longer than 900 miles sans gas.

With the help of ABB technology, the advanced lithium-ion battery of the Chevrolet Volt could potentially be recycled in such a way that it would obtain the ability to provide back-up power to homes and buildings for the first time ever.

At the GM Electrification Experience Event, the Chevrolet Volt advanced lithium-ion battery served as one hundred percent of the power for an off-grid facility by way of an ABB Energy Storage Inverter system.

ABB and Chevrolet declare that the technology is now ready to be tested by an on-grid facility.

Technically, only about 30 percent of an advanced lithium-ion battery is utilized when it has exhausted its performance in an electric vehicle. The remaining 70 percent can then be applied to other power uses.

It is estimated that five Chevrolet  Volt batteries could be transformed into the necessary energy to power anywhere from three to five American homes for up to two uninterrupted hours.

Such technology could have significant impacts on various forms of energy reserves as well as costs.

To further its sustainability efforts, Chevrolet has pledged to continue to produce batteries with similar benefits.

How does that sound for “eco?”

Toys for Tots with Tom Naquin

John F. Kennedy once said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

With Thanksgiving a mere week away, we are encouraged to count our blessings and to be grateful for the lives we have been given.

It is easy to simply verbalize your thanks and appreciation and move on to the turkey, football, and napping that is such a traditional part of the holiday. But, actions speak louder than words.

Demonstrate your thanksgiving by donating a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots so that it may be given as a Christmas gift to a less fortunate child in your very own community.

Tom Naquin is one of over 700 local Toys for Tots drop-off locations.

The Toys for Tots Program was founded by the United States Marine Corps Reserve with the intention to unite local communities in the creation of hope and joy for their less fortunate children through a simple Christmas toy.

Possible donation ideas may include sporting equipment, books, board games, remote control cars, skateboards, and hand-held electronics.
