The Chevrolet Cruze has been nothing short of a huge hit for Chevrolet. The compact car has reached 3 million cars sold worldwide since its launch in 2008. The Cruze is easily Chevrolet’s best-selling model, currently being built at 11 different plants and sold in 118 countries. This milestone comes only 16 months after the 2 millionth Cruze was sold in 2013, indicating huge growth for the popular car.
Here in the U.S., we only get the four-door sedan version of the Cruze, but globally, the car is available in popular five-door hatchback and wagon models. Outside the U.S., the Cruze also offers additional engine options outside the 1.8-liter, 1.4-liter turbocharged, and 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder powertrains that are available here.
Automobilemag.com reports that China claims the number one spot in Chevrolet Cruzes sold, boasting 1.13 million units sold of the 3 million total since it was launched there in 2009. The U.S. comes in second with 900,000 models sold since its launch here in 2008.
The Chevrolet Cruze gets a facelift for 2015, and will see a complete redesign for 2016.
