This is a 100,000 square foot museum that features a variety of historical recreational vehicles from Winnebago, Airstream, and many other American makers.
The museum’s mission is to preserve history and honor the pioneers and individuals who have made significant contributions to the RV and Manufactured Housing Industries. Founded in 1972 as the Recreational Vehicle/Manufactured Housing Heritage Foundation, the museum opened in 1991 and moved to its current location in 2007.
The museum has a simulated RV campground, where visitors can actually stay. It also has many unique exhibits such as the oldest surviving RV—the 1913 Earl Travel Trailer—and the 1931 Chevrolet Housecar that was offered as a bribe to Mae West by Paramount Pictures.
The museum also displays photos and other memorabilia, presented in chronological order from 1920 to the present. You can see the addition of the first microwave oven, the first indoor toilet, and other technology features that advanced over the years. These exhibits allow you to experience motor homes up close and many can be walked through.
We at Tom Naquin Chevrolet encourage you to indulge your love of the open road and visit the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana!
