Chevrolet Reveals New Concepts for the Indian Market

Concepts for the Indian Market

The Indian market continues to grow, and GM wants to create loyal customers for life, so the automaker has created some new concepts for the Indian market.

India has been referred to by General Motors as the last great automotive frontier to conquer. The Indian market continues to grow, and GM wants to create loyal customers for life.

GM is using Chevy as the initiative to crack the Indian market and appeal to consumers. Chevy revealed the Chevrolet Essentia and the Beat Activ, two new concepts for the Indian Market, at the New Delhi’s Auto Expo.

The Chevrolet Essentia is a sub-compact entry level sedan. The concept is built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Beat, but does not have the hatchback design. It instead has a shorter front fascia, short rear decklid, and prominent wheel arches.

Although only the concept model has been revealed, it is believed that the production-spec model will remain almost identical except some small modifications.

The Essentia will come standard with ABS, a rear-view camera, and dual airbags. There will also be an infotainment system that will incorporate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Chevrolet also unveiled the Beat Activ which has been created as an “off-road” variant of the Beat hatchback. This concept has widened wheel arches, roof rails, and playful coloring paint schemes. No specs have been released about this model yet.

President and managing director of GM India Kasher Kazem states that, “The Essentia and Beat Activ were created in direct response to the growing Indian market and signal Chevrolet’s commitment to the maturing Indian A-segment market. Both evolutions of the proven Beat platform, these two important vehicles give us the opportunity to speak to a wider audience.”

We at Tom Naquin Chevrolet are excited for Chevrolet’s growth into new markets and are looking forward to seeing the future of Chevrolet vehicles in the Indian market.

Chevrolet to Release Trax Midnight Edition Crossover

Trax Midnight Edition

Chevrolet is going to produce a vehicle that is practical, contemporary, and attractive in the form of the new Chevy Trax Midnight Edition.

General Motors is hard at work implementing strategies to accomplish two goals for the company—further infiltrating the crossover market to capitalize on the segment’s current popularity and appealing to the upcoming generation of younger buyers looking for something practical and contemporary but still attractive. The Chevrolet brand specifically will be taking a step in both directions with the new Chevy Trax Midnight Edition, which company execs believe will fill a space in their lineup for a crossover while appealing to young professionals.

With an edgy new paint job recognizable by the black body, black wheels, and black accents, the new variant of the Chevy Trax has a modern, sleek, minimalist look to it, and the interior has a similar look but includes a contrasting gray piping. And with nearly 60,000 Trax crossovers already on the road, the introduction of special editions like the Midnight Edition is crucial in order to give the Trax more leverage over the competition. After all, no one wants to drive a car that looks like all the other cars on the road.

The Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition crossover is set to debut in the United States this February at a sticker price of $26,625 including taxes and destination charge. The special edition will see a limited run of only 1,000 units. Several other vehicles in Chevy’s lineup, including the Silverado and Impala, have also gotten to Midnight Edition treatment.

2016 Camaro Production Begins

2016 Camaro Production

In order to handle 2016 Camaro production, General Motors hired an additional 450 workers this past summer and added a second shift.

The sixth generation of the Camaro is here at last and, entirely rebuilt from the tires up, it promises to be the best yet! General Motors revealed the muscle car at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant a few weeks ago. This is the first time the Camaro has been made in the United States since the third generation rolled off the line in 1992.

The latest and greatest Camaro was officially revealed to the public back in May and hype has been building ever since. General Motors hired an additional 450 workers this past summer and added a second shift to spur production.

“Everyone’s excited to see to the Camaro roll down the line and get shipped to customers,” said Erin Davis, GM’s Lansing-based spokeswoman. “We feel really lucky we’re the plant that gets to have it built not only in the U.S. but Lansing.”

2016 Camaro production is expected to be running at full speed for the foreseeable future.

The introductory model is the Camaro 1LT, available at a starting price of $25,700 with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder or 2.6-liter V6 under the hood. At the top of the pyramid is the 1SS with a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood and a price of $37,795.

We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet can’t wait to see the latest Camaro on our lot!

Chevrolet Advertising: Chevrolet’s New Ad Campaign Throws Your Phone in a Woodchipper

Chevrolet Advertising

Lately, Chevrolet advertising has been unique, and the latest ad shows what happens when you throw cell phones into a woodchipper.

In one of eight new Chevrolet advertising spots launched at the start of the month, Chevy shows what happens when you throw cell phones into a woodchipper belonging to a group of “real people, not actors.”

The ad is meant to show the attachment people have—especially young adults—not to their devices but specifically to being connected. Then it introduces the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, which comes equipped with 4G LTE Wi-Fi technology.

Chevrolet’s new ad campaign uses similar methods to show some of the key features in their new vehicles, like the Volt’s state-of-the-art battery, the Equinox’s active safety, and the Silverado’s best-in-class features.

“Chevrolet’s campaign is designed to surprise consumers in unexpected ways,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “We wanted unique ways to demonstrate Chevrolet’s strength in connectivity, electrification and safety features customers are looking for.

Chevy Launches Support Campaign for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Last year, Chevy’s nationwide grassroots support for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks helped raise $1.2 million.

Chevrolet dealers, employees, and customers are all uniting in October for the fifth consecutive year to fight breast cancer.

Several Chevrolet-sponsored events and activities will be taking place throughout the month to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. A social media campaign will encourage people to share who they drive for using the #IDriveFor hashtag, with Chevrolet contributing $5 for every post on Twitter or Instagram. It will also donate $350 for each caution lap taken in the pink Chevy SS pace car at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Talladega Superspeedway and Martinsville Speedway.

Last year, Chevy’s nationwide grassroots support for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks helped raise $1.2 million. The walks are coming back for 2015 in Detroit and among other communities through the country. We look forward to doing our part at Tom Naquin Chevrolet!

“This is a cause close to the hearts of millions of people across the country and Chevrolet is offering individuals a number of ways to show their support,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “Through our efforts the past five years, we’ve helped the American Cancer Society raise more than $4.4 million for its programs to Find New Roads in the fight against breast cancer.”

Chevy Develops Industry-First Active Phone Cooling Feature for Overheating Smartphones

Chevy Develops Industry-First Active Phone Cooling Feature for Overheating Smartphones

Chevrolet Active Phone Cooling can be found in 2016 Chevy Impalas, Malibus, Cruzes, and Volts equipped with optional wireless charging.

An overheating smartphone may provide a small source of warmth during the winter months, but the rest of the year, it’s little more than a nuisance. A hot phone burns up battery life, processes data more slowly, and, worst of all, can deteriorate the device’s lithium ion batteries over time.

To combat the problem, Chevrolet has developed an industry-first solution: Active Phone Cooling. The feature is basically just an air conditioning vent that blows cool air onto your smartphone when it’s placed in the wireless charging dock available in some Chevy vehicles. It’s as convenient as it is simple.

“Innovation doesn’t mean reinventing the wheel,” said Chevy Impala engineer Dan Lascu. “Sometimes simplicity offers the most elegant solution to a problem.”

Overheating can be caused by heavy usage, the charging process, or high temperatures. Chevy advises people to avoid leaving their phone sitting in a hot car—of course, what kind of crazy person doesn’t already keep their phone on them at all times?

All-Star Game MVP Mike Trout Wins a Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition

All-Star Game MVP Mike Trout Wins a Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition

When asked to decide between the all-new sixth-gen 2016 Camaro and a limited edition Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition, Mike Trout chose the pickup truck.

At this year’s midsummer classic in Cincinnati, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim centerfielder Mike Trout became the first MLB player to win back-to-back All-Star Game MVP Awards. As such, he’s also the first baseball player to win back-to-back free Chevy vehicles for being named MVP. Some guys have all the luck, huh?

Last year, when given the choice, Trout enthusiastically chose a new Corvette over a new Silverado. At this year’s All-Star Game, when asked to decide between the all-new sixth-gen 2016 Camaro and a limited edition Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition, Trout went with the pickup truck. Perhaps he figures he has enough sports cars now, and wants something for hauling all of his trophies around—or maybe he just loves the cool all-black paint job.

“Mike’s on-field performance was All-Star caliber and worthy of one of Chevrolet’s All-Stars,” said Chevrolet US vice president Brian Sweeney. “Chevrolet also encourages future All-Stars through our more than 1,500 dealers who support Chevy Youth Baseball.”

In the past ten years, the Chevy Youth Baseball program has raised over $18 million to support local youth teams, involving over 5.2 million kids across America. No doubt, millions of those kids dream of growing up to be like Mike Trout—elite, idolized, wealthy, and the proud recipient of a free Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition pickup truck.

Chevrolet Introduces Active Phone Cooling Features

Active Phone Cooling

Given the summer heat, Chevrolet’s new Active Phone Cooling feature for smartphones might be useful sooner than you think.

There are probably times when you’ve looked at the features that come standard in a new car and have wondered when you would ever need them. Well, Chevrolet is adding another feature, but given the summer heat, it might be useful sooner than you think. Made for smartphones, Chevrolet is introducing its Active Phone Cooling feature.

While you may not think you’ll ever need it, the Active Phone Cooling feature is essentially an air conditioning vent for your phone. The new feature will be available in several new models, including the Chevrolet Impala.

The idea comes from a study that found smartphones don’t charge when they get too hot. Like most technology, smartphones overheat. When the sun heats up the car’s interior, it heats up your phone as well.

“Over time, regular overheating can do permanent damage to the lithium ion batteries that power our smartphones. I always recommend keeping your phone in a cool, ventilated place, where it can stay at a comfortable room temperature, whether it’s charging or discharging,” said Jeffrey Van Camp, deputy editor of Digital Trends.

Aimed at those who are constantly using their smartphones, the Active Cooling Feature may just end up as popular as the cup holder.

We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet are happy to see Chevrolet working to keep up with the fast changing technology field!

GM Executive Drives Corvette Z06 Pace Car in Detroit Grand Prix

Detroit Grand Prix

Mark Reuss, who happens to be a big motorsports fan and a certified test driver, got to pace the new Corvette Z06 for the Detroit Grand Prix.

Sometimes it pays to make your hobbies and interests known at work. Sometimes it means you might be the one who gets stuck organizing work potluck dinners for special occasions. Other times, it means you’ll get to pace the new Corvette Z06 for the Detroit Grand Prix. At least that’s what happened for Mark Reuss, General Motors’ executive vice president of Global Product Development and Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. He also happens to be a big motorsports fan and a certified test driver.

The race took place on May 30 and 31, and featured Reuss leading the way in the Z06. He didn’t even have to travel far to perform his duties because the track is located less than three miles from Chevy’s headquarters in Detroit.

“I’m thrilled to drive the Corvette Z06 pace car at this year’s Grand Prix,” said Reuss of the honor. “Growing up here and having the opportunity to help bring this great event to racing fans in Detroit has been very exciting, and the privilege of driving the pace car makes it even more special for me.”

The Corvette Z06 graced the track with all of its 650 horsepower, dressed in the Arctic White exterior and Adrenaline Red interior. You can purchase the same model, minus the safety strobe lights and exclusive graphics, right here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet.

$175 Million Allocated for Production of All-New Chevy Camaro Six

All-New Chevy Camaro Six

General Motors is revamping the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant and planning to re-hire 500 employees to help produce the all-new Chevy Camaro Six.

General Motors is cutting a check for $175 million dollars. The funds will be used to revamp the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant and to re-hire 500 employees to add a second shift. Why? Because the all-new Chevy Camaro Six is coming to town. Actually, it’s being built in town.

When it comes to America’s best-selling performance car for the past five years, Chevy is committed to building the next-generation model right. Using the allocated funds, the plant will receive the necessary equipment for three paint systems producing Camaro-specific colors: Summit White, Bright Yellow, and Red Hot. In addition, the money will assist in adding two robotic framers to ensure a “more precise drive experience.”

“With this investment in tooling and equipment, we will continue to do our part to build on the high-quality reputation of this iconic car,” said Scott Whybrew, GM’s North American Manufacturing Manager. “These investments in the Lansing plants are proof of the teams’ quality commitment, to put the customer at the center of everything we do!”

The all-new 2016 Camaro was recently introduced on May 16 and the $175 million in improvements to the Lansing plant are part of General Motors’ larger plan to invest $5.4 billion over the next three years to improve U.S. facilities.
