In addition, the Tahoe, Silverado 1500, and Suburban ranked among the top three in their segments.

“Chevrolet is committed to offering customers a complete lineup of vehicles that deliver great performance, design, and technology, and do it with great value,” said Brian Sweeney, Chevrolet’s U.S. vice president of Sales and Service. “Vehicle dependability is a large part of that value, and this prestigious award recognizes our ongoing efforts to further enhance value for our customers.”

Three Chevys Receive High Honors in Initial Quality Awards

Three seems to be Chevrolet’s lucky number with three of the American carmaker’s vehicles taking the lead in their respective segments, according to the 2014 J.D. Power Initial Quality Awards. The Malibu ranked the highest in the Midsize Car, Suburban in the Large SUV segment, and the Silverado HD in Large Heavy Duty Pickup.

Along with these three vehicles taking the top place in their segments, three other vehicles were ranked in the top three of their respective segments, with the Camaro placing in Midsize Sporty, the Equinox in Compact SUV, and Tahoe in Large SUV.

“Our primary focus at Chevrolet is on the customer, and building quality products is top priority for keeping that focus,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “Taking high honors in quality studies like this is great reinforcement to show we are doing just that.”

J.D. Power bases the Initial Quality Survey on responses from more than 86,000 purchasers and lessees after 90 days of new vehicle ownership. It is the second year for the study’s new format, providing manufacturers with information needed to improve customer satisfaction.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado Earns High Safety Rating

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released its safety ratings and the ratings are good news for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The Silverado 1500 has earned a five-star rating and is among one of the first trucks to receive such a rating since the NHTSA changed its New Car Assessment Program in 2011.

The NHTSA only tested the crew cab model of the Silverado as Chevrolet expects the crew cab to account for 60 percent of their 2014 light duty full-size pickup truck sales.

Just take one look at some of the safety features offered on the 2014 Silverado and you will see why it earned a five-star rating.

  • Fully boxed frames
