Chevy Hints at Introducing V8 Engines to Lower Trim Camaros

The Chevy Camaro won’t be muscled out of its peak position in the muscle car market. Chevrolet is looking to add numerous technologies and advanced engineering features to increase sales of the iconic Chevy Camaro and take over the top spot from the Ford Mustang.

The coolest way they’re proceeding with this pony car push? By bringing high-power V8 engines to lower trim Camaros.

This move will make higher performance available at a lower price point to box out the high-dollar Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, two competitors that only promise V8s at their more expensive and elevated trim levels. Currently, the Chevy Camaro is second in sales to the Mustang, with the Challenger in third place.

Buyers of muscle cars tend to be automotive enthusiasts, meaning that these are the people who are looking for the potent thrill of a V8 engine. Making V8 engines more accessible to true lovers of all things “under the hood” by adding them to the lower trim Camaros is a brilliant tactical move on Chevrolet’s part.

Do you fall into the category of “automotive enthusiast?” At Tom Naquin Chevrolet, we are fully stocked with a wide variety of Chevrolet Camaros. No matter what color, what trim, or what performance options you’re looking for, we can help you find it at Tom Naquin.

The Updated Chevy Trailblazer Is Still Blazing Trails in Brazil

If you’re still mourning the 2009 departure of the Chevrolet Trailblazer from American soil, you might want to stop reading now—the pain of “oh-what-could-have-been” may be too much to bear. But, if you’re intrigued by “what-could-be-again” pay attention!

updated chevy trailblazer - Tom Naquin

An updated Chevy Trailblazer has been turning heads way down south in Brazil, where it’s been a major force in the South American SUV scene since 2012. The new 2018 model introduces a swath of new technologies, both in the cabin and under the hood, as well as an all-new aesthetic.

New features for the Brazilian Trailblazer include blind spot, front collision, and rear movement alerts, a new premium audio system, and more, but the real icing on the cake is its Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber (CPA) system. The new CPA reduces vibration and noise, increases energy efficiency, and optimizes coupling at lower speeds with a six-speed transmission for a silkier ride.

On top of all this, the updated Chevy Trailblazer takes to the streets with an all-new, modernized aesthetic. With a crisper front fascia, smooth passenger windows, and an overall elegant posture, this Trailblazer has an almost luxurious appearance.

While you can’t purchase a new Trailblazer here at Tom Naquin (we’re just a bit to north of the border for those), we have a wide selection of Chevy SUVs, cars, and trucks that are sure to entice any driver. Visit us to see our full stock!

Smooth Ride and Peace of Mind: 2017 Chevrolet Traverse Reviews

The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse is available now at Tom Naquin Chevrolet, and while we’re happy to talk to you all day about how much we love this SUV, we figured we would leave it to the experts to help you make your decision. Below you’ll find brief summaries of several 2017 Chevrolet Traverse reviews that should make the Traverse the clear winner in your search for a new SUV.

For starters, the 2017 Chevy Traverse has earned 4.9 stars out of 5 on Cars.com in the Consumer Reviews section, which means it’s not just one person deeming the Traverse a nearly perfect SUV—it’s dozens of consumers, just like you.

Professional critics were also fond of the 2017 Traverse. Edmunds praised its “smooth ride even when the road isn’t” and the “peace of mind that comes with top safety scores.” U.S. News & World Report and Edmunds both lauded the Traverse’s excellent cargo space, and U.S. News also echoed Edmunds thoughts on the ride and handling, calling it “smooth” and “carlike.”

Regarding its interior space, Car and Driver goes so far as to say that even though the Traverse “looks like an SUV, it’s really more of a camouflaged minivan, especially considering its spacious cabin with room for eight.”

Quiet and Practical: 2017 Chevrolet Equinox Reviews

Our sales team at Tom Naquin Chevrolet is very knowledgeable on Chevy’s lineup, including the new Equinox. We could probably talk your ear off all day about the Equinox, but we know that our discerning shoppers would probably prefer to hear from the critics themselves. That’s why we’ve compiled snippets from several 2017 Chevrolet Equinox reviews across the web, all in one place.

Car and Driver calls the Equinox both “quiet” and “practical” in the cabin, two of the many features that make it a “smart buy.” U.S. News & World Report would probably agree with that “smart buy” title, as it has rated the 2017 Equinox an 8.0 out of 10. Reviewers at U.S. News cite the Equinox’s “smooth, comfortable ride” and “spacious and flexible rear seats” as positive metrics that have earned the Equinox its high score.

Edmunds also had positive praise for the 2017 Chevy Equinox, highlighting several aspects, such as the “optional V6 engine [that] provides quick acceleration,” the smooth ride no matter the terrain, the “backseat [that] has plenty of space and slides/reclines for added comfort,” and its quiet interior at all speeds. Motor Trend also lauded the available V6 engine and the roomy interior.

The Roadster Shop Creates Custom Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR is an off-road capable truck unlike any other in its class. The Roadster Shop, a company known for taking muscle cars to new heights, took to the Colorado ZR2 with pleasure. The end result is a muscular pickup that looks like it can take on the world.Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 - Tom Naquin Chevrolet

To begin, The Roadster Shop got ahold of a 2015 Colorado and transformed it into a vehicle designed to perfect recon on off-road racing courses. The race truck features a vast array of amenities and looks much different than any production model we’ll likely ever see.

The “ColoRADo,” as it was christened, features a stock cab with much larger fender flares. The custom freight brings a new position to the engine to optimize weight distribution. While the styling is certainly something to behold, what’s under the hood could be even more impressive.

The custom Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 boasts a 7.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that pumps out 730 hp. An upgraded suspension allows drivers to traverse some of the roughest trails imaginable in complete comfort.

The roll cage, racing seats, new dashboard and steering wheel, and digital instrument cluster certainly aren’t standard equipment either. Although the truck is just a custom job done by some creative experts, it’s still a sight to take in before it roars over the mountainside and out of sight.

We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet can’t help but be impressed by the custom Chevrolet Colorado ZR2!

Autonomous Chevrolet Bolt Electric Car Fleet Expands

Automakers are making leaps and bounds in autonomous car technology every month, but Chevrolet is the clear leader. The autonomous Chevrolet Bolt car fleet will be expanded from 50 to 180 vehicles. The additional 130 Bolts will boast updated cameras, sensors, and hardware from models currently testing in three major cities.Autonomous Chevrolet Bolt - Tom Naquin Chevrolet

There are currently 50 self-driving Chevrolet Bolts testing on the roadways of San Francisco, Detroit, and Scottsdale. Data generated and collected by those models have resulted in updated technology as Chevrolet continues to lead the pack in the race to produce autonomous vehicles.

The addition of 130 electric vehicles to the autonomous Chevrolet Bolt fleet isn’t the only update the automaker has made. General Motors plans to triple the staff of Cruise Automation, a self-driving software startup purchased last year, to 150 people. That team will continue to expand by another 1,100 people over the next five years.

While the autonomous Chevrolet Bolt is still in the testing phase, the Orion Assembly Plant is geared for production. As a result, General Motors currently stands as the only automaker capable of mass-producing autonomous vehicles.

“…no other company today has the unique and necessary combination of technology, engineering and manufacturing ability to build autonomous vehicles at scale,” said Mary Barra, GM CEO and Chairman.

We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet are happy to see the autonomous Chevrolet Bolt continuing to lead the industry!

Spring Car Maintenance Tips

Changing your cars batterya

If the battery is more than a few years old, it might be best to get a new one, just in case!

Keeping up with routine car maintenance can be difficult, but it’s a necessity for drivers who want to maximize the lifespan of their vehicle. Proper maintenance can help reduce the overall operating cost of your car as well. Check out these informative spring car maintenance tips from us here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet. Get out on the road and enjoy a spring drive!

  • Battery – A car requires more current to start when it’s cold out. That can put a major strain on a battery, especially if it’s fairly old. Take a few moments to look the battery over for any abnormalities, like bumps or bulges, and clean the connections if possible. If the battery is more than a few years old, it might be best to get a new one, just in case.
  • Wipers – Spring brings warm weather and heavy rains, which is why it’s necessary to have a good pair of windshield wipers. Fortunately, new wiper blades are fairly inexpensive and are easy to install. Simply consult your owner’s manual for exact instructions for your vehicle.
  • Lights – Driving at night without properly functioning headlights will only lead to disaster. Heading out in the rain without headlights won’t end well either. Perform an inspection of your lights to ensure they work properly before you need them!

If you find yourself in need of some professional help with car maintenance, just give us a call here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet and we’ll be happy to help!

New Chevrolet Camaro Race Car

Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R

The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R

Chevrolet is always on the hunt for ways to one-up the competition and the latest Camaro track model could do just that. The new Chevrolet Camaro race car is based on the ZL1 1LE production muscle car, with a few upgrades. Racing fans, take your seats and start your engines; it’s about to be a crazy year on the track.

The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R boasts a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine paired with a 6-speed transmission complete with paddle shifters. The transmission also boasts built-in traction control to avoid hitting the wall.

The new race car took to a wind tunnel to optimize aerodynamics to cut down on as much drag as possible. The end result is the addition of a new front splitter, dive planes, and rear wind to better cut through the air. Of course, no race car is complete without a bunch of ladder-topping equipment. The new Camaro GT4.R boasts Öhlins coilovers and Brembo brakes that optimize handling and traction.

While the teaser image doesn’t show off the race car’s interior, expect something similar to existing models. A stripped down interior and plenty of safety features are more than likely all that the cockpit brings to the track.

We here at Tom Naquin Chevrolet are pumped to see how well the new Camaro race car does on the track!

All-New Camaro ZL1

Camaro ZL1

Even More Speed In The Camaro

The all-new Camaro is the fastest one yet! The Camaro ZL1 will light the track on fire (not literally) at the next road races.

The ZL1 has plenty of power, starting with its 10-speed automatic transmission; it makes the race smoother than ever. The ZL1 was tested at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg GmBH proving ground. A proving ground is exactly what it sounds like – it makes the car prove what it can do. The ZL1 certainly proved its power by peeling around the track at 202.3 mph in one direction and 193.3 mph in the other. That brings the Camaro ZL1’s official top speed to a jaw-dropping 198 mph.

“The ZL1 was developed with high-speed performance in mind, incorporating a balanced aerodynamic package that reduces lift without significantly affecting drag,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.

The Camaro ZL1 is sure to prove its innovation on the racetrack. The coupe shoots from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds and can even brake from 60 to 0 in 107 feet. That’s pretty impressive! Its engine delivers an unbeatable 650 horsepower and has top technology like Magnetic Ride Control and electronic limited-slip differential as well.

Keep your eyes peeled for the lightning-fast Camaro ZL1… if you blink you might miss it! Come see a Chevrolet Camaro for yourself at Tom Naquin in Elkhart, IN today!
